The peaceful and almost bucolic life that many of the veterans of Independent Spetznaz Regiment 317 with their wives settled in to around the village of Lyski near Odessa after the Battle of the Terek River was not to be. Trouble was brewing on the horizon but few noticed at first.

As indications of the coming trouble became more obvious in summer of 2013, plans were made. By late summer all the veterans were moving south to Sevastopol Region. They had hardly settled in to their new homes in the little village of Chernorich’chya when they knew they would have to serve one more time.

This is the beginning of their story of those turbulent times.
